Embedding a Pin from Pinterest
-
I want to write about a pin from pinterest, in the past Pinterest gave a code that was not javascript and I was able to embed it. They have now switched to Javascript so I can not simply embed the pin.
Pinterest provides a ‘Pin URL’ for embedding but nothing happens when I copy it to my blog.
I am finding this very frustrating because I want the image and pin to credit back the orig source.
How do I embed now?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See here to add a pinterest button and other social network sharing buttons at the end of your blog posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

I don’t think the OP was talking about adding a sharing button but embedding a pin in your post. I am having the same issue where Pinterest gives you a link and says to post this where you want the pin to appear in the post. Here is an example of one:
Then it gives you JavaScript to load which looks like this:
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js”></script>When I attempt to add this to my post it just shows up as a link.
-
Yes, Daisyfrrl, I was talking about pins not buttons. I already have a button.
I don’t even get a link on my post. It shows nothing. -

Sorry I misunderstood. However the reality is that posting JavaScript will result in the software stripping it out to preserve security and stability as this is a multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ You can simply capture an image and upload it into a post, if that will work for you.

I’m also frustrated with this new feature of Pinterest. I want to use the images I find there, but give credit to the source and if I just go ahead and “save image as” the image it won’t link back to the original pinner when I use it in my blog. Having the images embedded was so handy!
I’ve however got round the problem by finding the source website and typing that web address as a caption to the photo. So I do “save image as” from Pinterest to save it to my PC, but at least my caption will give the link to the original website/photographer.
-
That’s a good workaround. IN the meantime, the rest of you can give your feedback to Pinterest. A lot of sites supply code especially for WP.com bloggers.
-
Crochetime, that is a good solution.
I always link back to the orig post somewhere in my writing, I just hate saving all those pictures….Raincoaster, I had also put in a support request to Pinterest when I wrote this one. No response yet.
Thanks you guys for taking the time to respond to my problem!

I need help with http://bicycle-love.net I am a new blogger. I have a bicycle art page, that I would like to give credit back. If I had a caption will this clutter the page. I would like it to look more like a gallery, any suggestions appreciated
-
If you are posting images from other people, you MUST credit them whether you think it looks cluttered or not.
-
Yes, I will correct that. I thought there was just a way for someone to click on a photo and it would give them the originators info.
-
What I do is I link the image to its source. If you’re taking the image from Pinterest, though, they have a protocol for that, and I believe it includes a caption.
-
I am very new to this, thanks for your patience. When I see pinned from under a pinterest post is that the link or tag I use for example cteativespotting.com and I would caption this under my picture. And if someone where interested in finding the origin they could type this in, and does this let the originator know I have given credit?
-
If you make the link live, people can click through to the source. That will show on the source’s stats.
-
Dear All, I complained the same issue to pinterest and they are completely silent about it. If I hear anything from them I’ll add it here.

I’m getting really frustrated. I followed this video exactly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIg63dU_sDA (she’s using wordpress too) and my pin won’t embed. What’s even weirder is the javascript code disappears when I hit “update” I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

That video is about WordPress.ORG, not WordPress.COM.
As timethief noted above, we cannot use javascript on wp.com:
