Embedding a wix.com design
-
Has anyone managed to use their wix design in a wordpress blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Not here you cannot. wix isn’t, and never was designed to work inside the wordpress environment. We cannot upload or use themes from outside wordpress.COM here at wordpress.COM.
Even with the self-hosted version of wordpress, you aren’t likely going to be able to do it. Again, wix stuff wasn’t designed to run within or on top of wordpress.
Wix designs are meant as a stand-alone thing.
Putting it inside wordpress would be like trying to put a Chrysler vehicle inside of a Buick.

Wix design in flash based. Flash is not allowed at wordpress.COM due to security concerns. Facebook, blogger, and the rest of them out there that allow flash and javascript constantly have to fight against bad scripts installed by users, and many of them have been brought nearly to their knees because of bad scripts.

That makes sense. On another note, maybe you could help me with this question. I resently subscribed to “more space” so I could upload MP3. Now I would like to tap into that media data base from my website. Can this be done or is it proprietary to WP? Thanks TG

Do you mean you bought the space upgrade? If so, you can hotlink that ad infinitum as far as I know; I’ve certainly done it for my images.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, I did a space upgrade and video. I wanted to use WP data base for not only blog but for website. I am in a learning curve. I want to beable to list my MP3 selection on my website with an option to play them or down load. I would like to be able to do the same with video. It is simple in the WP enviroment but some tec knowledge for other location. Thanks again for any help. Tommy G

On wix.com, it says you can use it for wordpress. It even says it’s easy…
This is what it has to say:
How do I embed my Wix into my WordPress blog?
A: It’s simple. When you have finished your creation…
1. In WordPress, switch to HTML view
2. Copy and paste the code below
<center><iframe height=”430″ scrolling=”no” width=”530″ frameBorder=”0″ src=”http://www.wix.com/XXXX/XXXX”></iframe></center></p>
4. Replace the highlighted URL with the Wix URL you wish to embed into WordPress (this is the url you get when you “view” your design – just until the ? sign).
Note: you can change the height and width to suit your blog by changing the height/width numbers in the code. And click Save (or Publish) on your WordPress blog.
That’s it!I of course cannot figure it out. So wix is wrong? No way to do it? I’m just wondering because I’m not too great with computers ha

Jared, you can use it with self-hosted wordpress blogs, you cannot use it here at wordpress.COM. WordPress.COM has restrictions that self-hosted blogs do not have.
See the following for the differences: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .
