Embedding a youtube video in a page?
-
I have a page here at http://douglerner.wordpress.com/tao-1992-2006-movie/ – is there an easy way of embedding the video instead of giving a link?
The docs say that links to youtube videos should automatically turn into the embedded video, but apparently this doesn’t happen for pages.
Thanks,
doug
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Below the video, on the youtube page, click on the share button and then the embed button should be visible. Click on the embed button and then a link should appear. Copy that link and then paste it directly into your post.

Thanks. That works.
I tried that yesterday, but thought I had to put it into the HTML source. That didn’t work.
This time I just pasted it directly into the page and it does work now.
Thanks!

Hey Doug,
I click on your video and all I see is a black display. You definately embeded video embeding code into your post but the video is unable to display. I have the same problem, some of my old post with video now no longer works. Do you have the solution? -
Hi, syscookies. It is working for me. Initially I see a black display, but after a moment I see the play control and the first frame.
Perhaps it is browser dependent? I am using Safari on a Mac.

syscookies, where is the link to your embedded video. Let me see what it looks like to me.

Doug, This is the link, http://wp.me/p1tyh7-rA to my post . There are two videos in there.
-
Yes, I see both videos: the fireworks and the lion dance.
My guess is you have a LOT of images in that post, so maybe you have a slower network connection and it’s taking longer for everything to display and for the videos to appear properly.
But I see all the images and the two videos just fine.

The ONLY method of putting YouTubes in that simply always works is the shortcode. I’m aware there are other instructions in the support docs, but as you’ve seen, they don’t always work.
Use the shortcode, which is of the form [youtube=URL]

Doug, I guess that must have been the most reasonable explaination to this problem.
Raincoaster, I use HTML to compose…..that’s why I use the embeding code. I am going to try and compose one post with only a video and see if it still takes so much time to load. Currently I still see a black image at where my video is embeded. -
