Embedding audio
-
Hi there.
I am creating this site –> https://adamroxby675423201.wordpress.com but I can’t seem to get these embed links from Anchor to work, what is it I’m now doing right?
Many thanks.

Hi there,
We don’t support embeds from anchor.fm on WordPress.com. The embed code for the podcast on that page uses
iframecode which is not allowed on WordPress.com for security reasons. That code can only be embedded on Business Plan sites which work differently than regular WordPress.com sites. So you’ll only be able to link to that podcast from your site, but people will have to click through and listen to it directly on anchor.fm.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. That’s a bit frustrating, I understand people will have asked this before but it does mean that people will have to use a plugin to get around this limitation and this means a significant cost implication. Have you found any way around this issue without spending for a lot of features that I won’t need?
Regards

To clarify, the embed code that AnchorFM has created is one that is intended for self-hosted websites, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.
They did not create their embed code with WordPress.com in mind. Because of this we require the Business Plan to be able to use that code, as sites on our Business plan are more advanced and do allow you to use iFrame embed codes.
Your other option is to not start your site here on WordPress.com, but instead start a “self-hosted wordpress site” on a traditonal host instead. WordPress sites you start directly with a host like that use the more advanced open-source version of the WordPress platform (instead of the managed service we offer here on WordPress.com) and that kind of WordPress site will allow you to use your iFrame code without issue.
If you are looking for a good web host for your self-hosted site, we recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running:
That said, most major web hosting providers will work, so you can just ask if the one you are interested in supports WordPress.

Hi there.
Thanks for the response, I think the best solution for me, as you said would be to use a self-hosted option considering the main purpose would be the blogging aspect as opposed to constantly updating websites.
Thanks for your time.
