Embedding audio using the short [audio] code
-
Audio embedder is not showing up correctly. It used too…I embed audio using the [audio fileurl.com] code. It used to show up right, but now I just get a blank white box around the player.
I’m using safari and just updated my flash player. Here is an example: http://minnesotasportingjournal.com/2014/10/29/mnsj-podcast/
Thanks

Hi there!
There has been a small update. We have a new playlist shortcode for multiple audio files as seen here:
You can no longer add multiple files in the audio shortcode. Take a look at the link for further instructions!
Cheers!

So I have over 100 old podcasts on my site using the old method. Does this “small” update mean I have to update all of my prior podcasts??
-
Hi there,
So unfortunately yes. I know that can be a lot of work, so I have reported this to our team so see if there is anything we can do.
Once I hear back I’ll let you know as soon as possible.
Thank you!

Thank you!
I’m also working on getting my podcasts into the iTunes store. I’m trying to follow the instructions found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/podcasting/
But it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve embedded audio on the page (as you’ve seen already), but I’m not sure how I submit that to iTunes. I “tested” my feed as the instructions asked, but it didn’t work.
Do I need to create an xml file? How do I get that into wp?
-
Oh, maybe I need to use feed burner first…I thought it was an either/or situation, not both feed burner AND iTunes..I’ll try that.
-
Ok, I think I’m getting somewhere…but I have 3 segments for each podcast.
But it seems like only the first segment is getting loaded…do I need to add them all into 1 file for it to work?
-
Have you submitted to the iTunes Store and reviewed by iTunes staff? If your podcast feed has been accepted, can I get the link to your podcast?
-
I’ve tried submitting, but keep getting errors. I was able to subscribe through the link on my website (http://feeds.feedburner.com/MNSJRadioPodcast), but I only get two podcasts and only one segment from each.
Here is my feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/mnsjradiopodcast
or
http://minnesotasportingjournal.com/category/podcast/feed/
I set up my podcasts with three segments (because that’s the way I deliver them to my radio affiliates). I just upload or link the three segments on the podcast page now…I’m wondering if because it’s 3 segments instead of 1 that I’m having problems? I tried loading each segment onto it’s own page hoping it would show up as three separate podcasts (but grouped together and labeled as adjoining segments).
Make sense?
Thanks for the help!
-
Ok, I think I know what you mean. Try merging the 3 into one segment and let me know if that helps.

Also in the feed, the short code player doesn’t show up.
I have to link the audio file to get it to show up in the feed burner feed. It plays in iTunes, but I would like to clean up the feed page and maybe it would be best to just go with the linked file versus the player.

HI there,
Just wanted to let you know the multiple audio shortcodes have been fixed!
Cheers!

That rocks, thank you!
Here’s a new question…to get the podcast to feed into iTunes, I’ve been having to create a separate page for each segment. Is there a better way of doing this so I can do the whole podcast (3 segments) on one page and still have it feed into iTunes as 3 segments?
Does that make sense?
You can see where I’ve had to make 3 posts for it to work (and the podcast subscription link on the right side) here: http://www.minnesotasportingjournal.com
Thanks

Hi there,
I see what you mean. Unfortunately, this is the nature of podcasts. As a feed for a podcast, each post is 1 audio entry in the podcast. There’s really no way to do multiple audio entries in a blog-based podcast.

Well, since we seem to have this great conversation going, why don’t I ask one more question :)
I was thinking of getting word ads including on my site. How does that work and how much realistically can I make? I’m getting 15,000+ views per month (and trending upward).
I tried to request and invite but it said I didn’t have a “custom domain name”. I do, but I didn’t purchase it through wordpress…?
