embedding flickr photos
-
I’m having difficulty embedding flickr photos in my posts. I can use the “Add Media” function and add the url from the photo but I can’t figure out how to subsequently modify the size of the photo that’s shown on my blog. I have tried copying the short link flickr provides for sharing (one can select the photo size on flickr’s site), but this does not seem to help as it only results in the url showing on my post and not the photo itself.
Thank you for your assistance.

HI!
Have you tried embedding the image following the instructions here?
It looks like you’ve published a private test post trying various methods including the method above:
<a href="https://flic.kr/p/qGj1f6">https://flic.kr/p/qGj1f6</a>The issue here is that the URL is hyperlinked. Can you try replacing it with just this?
https://flic.kr/p/qGj1f6<Please note, you’ll need to do this in the Text Editor.
I tried to adjust the height and width using the attributes mentioned in the video shortcode here:

It doesn’t appear as though those shortcode attributes will work to modify the size of the image. In order to modify the size, you would need to use custom CSS, which would require the Custom Design upgrade:

Hm, yes I can get the photo to show up using that link in the text editor, but it’s a shame that I can’t change the size. It seems unnecessary to step up to custom design only for that purpose.
Thank you for your help!

Just another quick question. The flickr site has a sharing option which allows you to select the size of the photo, it looks like this:
<iframe src=”https://www.flickr.com/photos/130529298@N08/16208735105/in/photostream/lightbox/player/” width=”1600″ height=”1067″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>
Do you think there is a way to embed that in a post?

It looks like changing to a different theme helped make the photos larger. Thank you for your help.

It looks like the Flickr embeds automatically expand to fill the content width to a certain point. So, if you have a theme with a smaller content width, the image will be scaled down proportionally. However, within the shortcode, there isn’t a way to change the size.
Regarding the code you posted, we block iframe codes on WordPress.com for security reasons as explained here, so that code will not work:
