embedding images
-
Trouble embedding an image from the web, Twitter, Flickr. Seems some of the steps are missing in the instructions, i.e. if I put in the URL, the image doesn’t show up in the box, not given any instruction to edit, etc. What happens is the link ends up in my post, after I click “insert”, not the image itself.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there Sandra,
I’d be happy to help.
So, you may have already looked at this, but these are the steps we’ll be working with to add an image from another site into your own site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/#insert-an-image-from-the-webIf those aren’t working, it might be that the URL you are using isn’t a direct link to the image itself.
Feel free to send over a link and a description of an image you’d like to use, as well as the URL you tried to use to add it to your site.
We can get things sorted out together from there.

Hi dcole,
If you peruse my blog, you’ll see I know a little bit about working with images (just did one from my iPod an hour or so ago) and was using that link you sent to try the embed.
But, here’s the Twitter photo I tried to embed. Have also tried moving something from Flickr, but it only worked when I figured out how to upload it to the computer first. I was thinking with the cloud, whatever, it should be simple:

Hi Sandra,
So you could embed the entire tweet if you like:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/twitter/twitter-embeds/If you follow that guide, the link you’ll get for this particular tweet is:
https://twitter.com/highlinenyc/status/433647681370484737If you just wanted to use the image, you could right click on the image from the twitter site, and select the option to open it in a new window.
The address at the top of the browser would be the actual image address, which is:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BgSgRMZCcAAAMLL.jpgNotice that the address above ends in “.jpg” which is one of many image file types.
This address could be used with the guide I linked to in my last response about inserting images from the web.
That being said, it is best to use images that are your own, in the public domain, or licensed for free use:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/finding-free-images-and-other-media/
If you have any questions, just let me know.

Will try that. When I clicked on all the links connected to that image it seemed to say anyone could use it, it was free to share, with proper attribution. I thought that was giving me permission. If I’m misunderstanding that please let me know.
Unrelated to that, do you know how I can report inappropriate comments on WordPress? I’m subscribed to a blog and receive email comments. Someone called “Applejazz” is sending insulting comments, which the blog owner is deleting from comments, but they’re still showing up in my email.
Thanks. -
Must say I didn’t quite follow your thread, but haven’t had a lot of time, wii try again tomorrow.
