Embedding images
-
I’m trying to embed an image in the text of a post at a specific location. It will let me do this in the editor, but when I go to preview the image appears enormous at the top of the post as well as in the place it’s supposed to be. Can anyone help? It used to work fine previously, but is now causing a lot of irritation.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Can you please tell me what post in particular this is happening with so I can see it on the site you provided?
It sounds like the image was selected to be the page’s featured image as well as in the text area? If so, that can be fixed by changing the settings of the page or post under the featured image section. https://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/
Please let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance:)

Hi Amanda,
Thanks for the response. I’ve not posted the article yet because I don’t want to send it to my followers when it looks all wrong. I’ve checked the featured image as suggested but there isn’t one set. On the old system, you could embed a picture in the text and set alignment and such like and it didn’t appear at the top of the post. I tried using the old WP admin but it did the same trick. Any other suggestions? I’d like to be able to use images to jazz the posts up a bit.

Hello again,
I completely understand not wanting to post until it looks the way you want :)
I see that you are using the Baskerville 2 theme. I will apply it to my own blog and see if I can figure anything out with the image issue you are having, and I’ll get back to you
Sorry this hasn’t been resolved yet :/

Hello,
I think I have found what may be happening :)
If you go in the “customizer” menu, where it lists “site identity”, “colors & backgrounds”, “fonts”, “header image”, “menus”, “content options”, “widgets”, and SELECT “Content Options”. Then you will have a new menu open with “blog display” as one of the first options, scroll down to the bottom to where it says Featured Images, all of the boxes were checked when I did this. But unchecking the “Automatically use first image in post” box your issue with the image should be resolved :)
Hope this helps (and finally solves the issue for you!) :)

Hi, thank you so much for looking into this for me. I’ll have a go at this and see how I get on. I knew it would be something simple!
Thanks
Lynne
