Embedding images from Getty Images
-
Hi there,
I’ve recently started up a blog on WordPress and I’m looking to start embedding some images into my posts via Getty Images to brighten them up a little.
The process appears fairly simple to use, but unfortunately I’m just a little unsure about an age restriction. The Getty Images site states in the ‘Terms of Use’ (that can be accessed via a link during the embedding process) that you need to be 18 or over to use the website.
I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered such an issue and if this age restriction only applies to anyone looking to create an account on the Getty site and download images, or if it also applies to users simply attempting to embed photos?
Cheers.

Hi @jamespnoble, that’s a great question. I’m not sure about Getty’s policies, so you might get in touch with them if you’re not sure. I would assume they mean you must be 18, but they’ll know better.
For what it’s worth, WordPress.com users need to be at least 13 years old unless they have written permission from a parent. Perhaps Getty has something similar.

By the way, @jamespnoble, you might also look at using creative commons images. We list some sources here, and you can find more in the comments:

Hi supernovia,
Thank you very much for your really helpful response.
I’ll have a look at the creative commons images, it sounds like a really good source.
That’s a very good point regarding WordPess’ parental consent policy, I’ll see if Getty has something like that, as you suggested.
Thanks again for your help, it’s much appreciated.
