Embedding sketchcasts
-
Not sure if this is the best place for this post, but here goes…
I had been trying to embed sketchcasts from sketchcast.com unsuccessfully. Searched the forums, searched the internet, no luck – plus sketchcast.com has zero support.
However I did find a proto-sketchcast website that shows you how to create sketchcasts using existing applications and uploading to Youtube, thus allowing you to embed that way. I posted a ten-step process at my blog:
-
Is it javascript code? Because javascript isn’t allowed at WordPress.com due to security reasons. Can you post the code so we can see what kind of code it is.

<object width=”450″ height=”400″
><param name=”movie” value=”http:!
//golden
compassmovie.com/goldenCompass_blog.swf?id=766600″></param><embed src=”http://goldencompassmovie.com/goldenCompass_blog.swf?id=766600″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” menu=”false” width=”450″ height=”400″></embed></object> -
You’ll need to post the code between backticks (the key to the left of the 1 and above the tab key) so we can see it properly. But it looks like that has flash in it which we can’t embed for security reasons. If it’s a video you’re trying to embed, see if it’s on YouTube or Google Video instead; both of those are allowed on WordPress.

You could try putting it in a VodPod widget in your sidebar; that doesn’t put it in the posts, but it will support formats that WordPress.com won’t allow us to put in our blog posts, like that one.

From what I can see of the code above (.swf) it is shockwave flash, which is not allowed here at wordpress.com due to security concerns.
From the FAQ’s: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/can-i-add-flash-video-embed-other-media/
