There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.com and WordPress.ORG have different logins.

All sup[port documentation is here http://support.wordpress.com
search results for flash > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#flash-and-other-embedsThe video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/
For a Flash workaround see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/

Sorry to intrude this topic, but may I ask if this “gigya” code is legal to use in wordpress.com blogs? I want to embed a flash I created myself (not malicious) into my blog.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can use it, it’s just not supported by WordPress.com. Like any workaround the day may come when it no longer works.

I need my students to upload .swf animations to their blogs for class. Everyone posts work to their wordpress.com sites. Is there a reason why we get an error and how can these post? Add media is not working in this case.
