  How do you embed a video that isn’t YouTube or Google? I put the code directly on the HTML page and it vanishes when I save it.

  The only three you can use at wordpress.com are grouper, google and youtube. The instructions are in the FAQs blog and the reason you cannot use others is that the wordpress programming will strip out all those codes that compromise security.
