Embedding Video Using HTML Edit Option

    First of all, I’m new here & to WordPress in general, so please bear with me.

    Now, that out of the way, here’s my question…..

    I am a video blogger. I’d like to embed the Flash versions of my video (Which are REMOTELY hosted & will remain that way), but instead of using VideoPress, which would cost me $$$ I can’t shell out, I’m wondering if it’s possible to simply embed the HTML code provided by the host using the HTML option in the editor.

    The host would CNN’s ireport.com as (As you can probably tell by its name) this is a political blog & I can’t think of a more perfect site than ireport.com to have the Flash versions hosted on if ya know what I mean ;-)

    The downloadable versions will be hosted elsewhere & linked to via text link at the bottom of each post.

    While this won’t affect my decision to have my blog hosted here, it MIGHT have an affect as to how each post is laid out though.

    It may be possible using the Vodpod button, details of which you can get on http://vodpod.com

    You will definitely NOT be able to paste in the embed code to WordPress.com and expect that it will work. It would work on WordPress.org instead.

    If you are offering CNN videos for display and download, you’re going to need to be sure you have the rights to do so. There are some news organizations that are VERY retentive about such things.

    You cannot embed flash here due to security concerns: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#flash-and-other-embeds .

    What you will have to do is to put a link to the file on the hosting site.

    Raincoaster – ALL the videos I get from CNN’s iReport.com website will be MY OWN. Therefore, by default, I will have the rights.

    thesacredpath – That defeats the purpose of my moving my blog here then. Bummer, but that’s life in the mad universe called cyberspace. :(

    Good thing I didn’t delete anything on Blogger….. :-)

    You might want to take another look at that Vodpod button. It should be able to do this for you here at WordPress.com.
