Embedding widgets into posts?

Hi, I am aware that due to security WP.COM does not allow Flash widgets to be embedded into posts:

“As I was afraid, that contains javascript, which is not allowed here due to security concerns just as flash, forms and iframes are not allowed.”
However it obviously works for major sites – so I presume there is some process for website owners to have their widgets approved. Is that the case?
We have an embeddable widget for http://www.mixcloud.com and a growing number of our users are requesting WP.COM embed support. How do we go about trying to make this happen?
