Embedding Wolfram Demonstrations
-
I saw the following video for embedding wolfram Demonstrations in WordPress.com: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpNeo0eMKRg
However, I am not able to implement it on my website. I tried embedding and it shows perfectly while I am editing the page but it does not appear upon publishing.
Here is the page under consideration: https://prasadradhika.wordpress.com/physics/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
That video is referring to the open source version of WordPress found on WordPress.org.
This process is not possible on WordPress.com, as we don’t allow JavaScript embeds here, except on our Business Plan.
To embed Wolfram demonstrations on WordPress.com on other plans, that service will need to add oEmbed support instead (where you embed something by just pasting a link, like Youtube embeds work), and then it will need to be whitelisted on WordPress.com as well.
-
Thanks.
I did not quite understand about oEmbed support and how to implement it. Please let me know the steps. I have the free version of wordpress.com (no paid plans).
-
That is not something you can implement. Wolfram Alpha will need to enable that on their own service, so that their content can be embedded in this way.
-
So what is the solution for me now?
Does it mean I have to convert to either Business plan or to wordpress.org?
-
If embedding that content on your site is crucial, then upgrading or switching to WordPress at another hosting provider are the only options, yes.
But embedding that content is not currently possible on a free WordPress.com site.
-
Thanks for the clarification.
One weird issue is that upon following the video tutorial for embedding, it shows up very nicely in the editor, along with the full interactive features of the Wolfram Demonstrations. However, upon publishing the page, it disappears!

It appears to work in the editor, yes, as it’s valid HTML and JavaScript code you’re adding, so your browser displays it. But our system strips out anything contained in
scripttags as soon as you try to preview or publish the post.It works the same way for embeds using
iframetags. -
Ok, thanks. I seem to get it now.
Is there no way to prompt wordpress.com to allow Wolfram Demonstration embeds on free sites? Thanks again.

I seem to get that iframe and script won’t work in wordpress.com free sites. However, the youtube iframe seems to be working. Why is it like that?
-
Hi there,
Yes, there are a few exceptions such as with iframes for YouTube and Googledocs, where you can post an iframe we convert that code in a shortcode that abides by our security standards. Since Google products are heavily used, we have been able to make that conversion work. However, the security is too great of a risk to make iframe available in all cases.
