Embedding youtube links

  Embedding a youtube link
  I don’t usually have problems like this but maybe I am having a stupid day…I tried to include a youtube link in my latest post [http://sjponeill.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/after-dire-sequestration-warnings-skepticism-abounds-defense-news-defensenews-com/] following the instruction in the recent quick tips post [http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/quick-tip-add-video/#more-15257].

  I have tried a few times and have ensured that I am only posting the link as plain text and not as hyperlinked text but each time all I get in either a preview or published page is a hyperlink to the video…I don’t have the WordPress video upgrade but my understanding is that I don’t need it to embed a youtube clip and have it show as an image in my post.

  I am sure that I am just missing something simple but just need that helpful muse to point it out…

  I use the youtube shortcode and it works every time for me http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode Have you tried using it?
