Embedding YouTube video in post

    Hi folks,

    Now that (hopefully) my problem to post here has been solved, I will try again:

    Windows7 Ultimate
    Firefox
    Theme Ryu – The first time I try this in my new theme

    I am trying to embed a YouTube video in a post. Found the procedure in Help, made a shortcode, changed the size to what I wanted and put it in Text.
    Saved a draft and looked at the preview – I get a nice black square and with a click on that square I get the message that there is a problem with the video. I should wait for half an hour… But that is no help…
    This is the shortcode:
    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsaTuyjS1Ic-A&w=320&h=240]

    I tried with http and https (the original URL)
    I changed the size to a bit bigger
    Tried it in IE, Firefox, Chrome
    Tried it with a different video
    Same error

    When I just paste the URL into Visual it works fine but fills the whole screen and that’s not the idea… :-)

    What am I doing wrong? Anybody an idea?

    Thanks and grts

  • The video id you are using has an unwanted -A at the end. I removed it to make it work. Please use the following short code:

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsaTuyjS1Ic&w=320&h=240]

    It is same as yours except that the video id is corrected.

    Thanks a lot! :-)

    To me it seemed to be part of the code as I am not really a code person…

    Just another short question. Do I put the &rel=0 at the very end after the resizing or behind the video id?

  • No worries.

    You can add &rel=0 at the very end OR soon after the video id. The positioning of &rel=0 doesn’t make any difference. So

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsaTuyjS1Ic&rel=0&w=320&h=240]

    or

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsaTuyjS1Ic&w=320&h=240&&rel=0]

    produce the same result :-)

    That goes into my blog library :-)
