embeddings maps into hosted wordpress

I am using the hosted version of WordPress and I wanted to place a map in my blog. I have seen the description on how to embed Google maps into a blog, but that adds the info-bubble into the image which I find annoying.
I saw several posts on how to use plugins, but I do not seem to be able to load them.
    so, here my questions:
    1) Am I right in thinking that on the hosted version of WordPress I cannot install 3rd party plugins? If I can, can someone point me to the description on how to install them for the hosted version?
2)is there any way to “switch off” the info box from Google maps when embedding, or linking the map?
    3) Has anyone got good experiences with other map systems? (usable for the hosted version)

    Thanks,
    esther

All WordPress sites are hosted as are all web sites so part of your question is confusing at best.

You have a Google map embedded on the site linked to your name so you must have figured that part out.

If you are talking about Plug-in’s and your WordPress.COM site – you can’t do that – WordPress.COM does not allow Plug-in’s for security reasons.
