Embeded audio shows as ‘attachment’ in RSS readers now?
-
I often embed mp3s (hosted offsite) and make the little WP audio player which translates just fine in RSS readers. Recently, the same file will _also_ show up as a downloadable ‘attachment’, in addition to the player. I’m told that email subscriptions have seen the same change, now getting a message: “This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now”.
I can’t find an announcement about this anywhere, and I’ve made no changes to preferences. Is there a way I can adjust this? I don’t want my media files to be downloadable/attached.
Thanks!

@thedeli, WordPress.com blogs that have embedded media get enclosure tags added to the feed. It’s the expected behavior for embedded media from an enclosure tag to show up as a link in a feed reader.
It may also depend on the feed reader you are using. This is from the RSS enclosure page on Wikipedia:
Support and implementation among aggregators varies: if the software understands the specified file format, it may automatically download and display the content, otherwise provide a link to it or silently ignore it.
Note that we recently fixed a bug that was causing enclosure links to break in some cases. Your blog was probably affected by that bug and that’s why you’re noticing a change now.
Adding audio shortcodes to a post does not cause the audio file to be attached to blog subscription email.
