embeding a code

  • Unknown's avatar

    Good Morning

I have imported my older version WordPress website into a newer version WordPress – I was wanting to re-embed a widget from LibraryThing – that I have embedded in my old site (which still works find) when I copy & paste the embed code into the HTML format…HOWEVER when I do the VERY SAME copy/paste into the NEWER version – it behaves like a text link and DOES NOT add the Widget to my NEWER main page as in the OLDER version does…I did say there the embedding can’t have any links on it – I am sure that is part of the problem – but I CAN’T find any place in the NEWER version to ‘unlink’ this code – I see the ‘unlink’ in the old version – so I know there was a way to do that – I just don’t know how to do it in the new version – and that is providing the actual reason it isn’t working is for that reason –

As far as I know you cannot use the widget supplied by LibraryThing because it contains javascript and the software will strip the code. However, you can make your own.

You can of course link to your profile or book list or whichever of your pages you want at LibraryThing. Therefore all you need to do is capture an image and then link the image to the URL of the page of yours at LibraryThing that’s appropriate. You can place the linked image you create either in an image widget or a text widget and display it in your sidebar.

  • Hi there,

It looks like LibraryThing does offer a non-JavaScript version of their widget that should work here, but if you copied an older version of their widget from an existing site the code might not include the noscript version.

Can you please give me a link to the post or page where you are trying to embed this? If it’s still a draft page, just give me the title.

You mention an older site where you have the widget embedded. Can you please give a link to that site.

Also please give the full code you are trying to add. Click the Code button above the text box in the forum, paste the code, and then click the code button again.
