Emoticons not Showing
-
Helping my daughter out with her blog, and for some reason on a ‘page’ emoticons are showing properly.. but not her ‘post’, any ideas? The theme she’s using is ‘Snaps’.
Don’t think she’d want me to link to it yet as she’s editing her 1st post now again.
Thanks.

Now the likes (& sharing buttons) are not showing for her blog posts and it is set to ‘on for all posts, pages etc’ and within ‘edit’ of a particular post. Am wondering if it has something to do with using the static front page and blog page option, or perhaps connected to the Snaps Theme? The ‘like option does appear in the reader.
The Likes and Sharing buttons are showing on her pages and projects though.

Here’s the post in question > https://veerona.wordpress.com/2015/06/25/welcome/ (you’ll also notice the :) < stay that way, unlike her ‘about’ page where they do become proper smileys)

The :) is next to a p tag.
<p>New to wp so stay tuned for more posts :)</p>
Try with this

Galois caught the coding error.
She may also want to confirm her settings> Dashabord > Settings > Writing

‘Thanks’ for your help both of you but… writing settings are correct TT for ‘convert emoticons’..
Have double checked the ‘html’ and do not see any </p> up next to the :) and they are working on pages and projects…
The other questions are not answered.. and this was marked for staff. I also did not muck around (nor she, with ‘</p> tags / html so why they appear is another thing.
Also, if I mark it for staff; I don’t mind waiting for days…
-
I realise you both try to help, but in the past we have not gotten along..
I would appreciate it if you leave any of my questions in the future as mentioned; I don’t mind waiting for days for a staffs answer.

Please inform your daughter what here support options are. They are here https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/ If she does wish to post threads into the peer support forum here, where everyone and anyone can answer questions, and where no one can dictate who responds to to questions then she can use email support to get support directly from Staff. The email addresses are:
help@wordpress.com
or
support@wordpress.com -
-
I have let her know of her options for forums and support tt.. and she has the link to this post, but little time and I’m helping her set it up as Admin.
-
Okay. Now you say she has “little time” but above you said this “I don’t mind waiting for days for a staffs answer. ” Maybe your daughter would be best off contacting Staff directly by email or maybe not. Whatever she decides to do is up to her now as this is an issue with her blog as opposed to an issue with one of yours.
-
She has little ‘free’ time…. I do not mind waiting for staff….
And I am an Administrator of her blog.

I saw what I told you in the source code of the blog. If I had not been there, I would not have given that answer. ;)
it is marked for staff.. and I cannot even ‘delete’ no modlook required?
I do not know what you’re talking about.
I would appreciate it if you leave any of my questions in the future as mentioned; I don’t mind waiting for days for a staffs answer.
You’re “welcome”! ;)

All I ever do when either of you ‘try’ to answer a question of mine is answer your questions and nothing gets sorted out… just turning a topic into an argument and it gets tiring

Someone deleted the ‘no modlook required’
Not me. ;)

All the best for you too.

I should possibly just ‘ignore’ you @galois, but to bring myself down to your level and your love of quotes, winks and ‘last words’ of sarcasm
that just gave it a new paragraph @galois..
My daugther should not have to muck around with HTML just for a smiley at any rate. Is my point.
I am not here for your amusement, nor harassment.

You have taken this thread to a count of now about 18 posts of useless information, as once before it was 24 I guess it’s getting a little better ;)

@afreestyler
IMO you are being rude and argumentative, when in fact you already tagged this thread for Staff, and you know that you can email Staff.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards?replies=1Let me reiterate that the only way you can guarantee that your support questions are responded to only by Staff is to use the email addresses that I provided above.

I have emailed staff earlier, so thanks for the reminder tt, honestly… and I was not rude it was the other way around… as this was my first answer to both of you… (I had tagged it only with ‘modlook’ before either of you answered (and it had been a long while) The ‘marked for Staff assistance’ was done by someone else. I have also made copies of this thread (& others) for future reference.
Since there are plenty of people to help, there should be no problem of either of you skipping me.
