Empire: no text allowed in text widget
-
My theme is Empire, running IE 6.
I tab to “presentation—>sidebar widgets”. I dropped widgets into sidebar just fine. I click on little lines at side of “text 1” but nothing happens.
What I am doing wrong? I love the colors of this theme, please don’t tell me it has a bug!
My blog is at: http://feminazi.wordpress.com Also, how do I enable comments for ALL comments on front page? As soon as I posted my second article, comment enabling for first post disappeared.
I noticed when I take out all the widgets, my little avatar shows up, but when I put widgets in, the avatar disappears. I’m trying to put my avatar into a text widget, among other customizations. Been reading support forums for tips, you guys are wonderful!

I know IE6 has issues displaying stuff correctly, so you might want to try Firefox or another browser just to make sure that that isn’t the problem.
The comments issue is a “feature” of the theme you have chosen. If you open the post in its own page by clicking on the title, the comments box is at the bottom.

Thank you, but considering half of all internet users are viewing blogs with Windows, telling visitors to switch to another browser is not a solution. Appreciate your desire to help tho!
Also, the problem is getting the little lines in the text widget to respond to my cursor, not a problem with viewing from different browsers.
Yep, I kinda figured the post/comment thing was how the theme was set up to perform, ah well. I’d like to keep it, the colors are nice.

No, i mean IE6 has problems with displaying buttons and boxes on the screen, not that your blog will look weird. If you use a different browser, or upgrade to IE7 (maybe) you might not run into this problem.
-
The theme wouldn’t have anything to do with an issue with the backend.
I see content in your text-1 widget:
A new view of an old problem
Anita Superson on privilege and other immoral degenerates

Firefox is more secure than IE 6 too. Nothing ventured nothing gained. You can have more than 1 browser.
-
Firefox has had it’s severe security issues as well.
This is a support forum, not a debate forum. Please remember that. We will not have discussions over which browsers are better.
-
Why not try to move the widget text box by pointing your mouse and slide it up or down and see if the little lines appeared? Im using Safari and it doesn’t show on me when I click on it but when I tried moving it a little actually works.

Thanks Dr. Mike. No promotion. Just trying to share what little help I can provide on the forums.
-
I’m using IE 6 and your widgets display just fine to me.
Also, please note that not all hardware configurations can support Firefox. If you’re going to tell someone to switch, you should be willing to pay for their new computer.

Excuse me … but there is something important to be said here.
This is a support forum for those using wordpress.com technology.
Those who have knowledge are IMO obliged to share it as judyb12 did.
Those who receive the information are honor bound to accept the information and act on it as they so choose without shooting the messenger.The facts are:
(1) IE7, FF2, Opera 9 and Lynx browsers work best with wordpress;
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=5350&page&replies=39
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=5350&page&replies=36#post-34627(2) The reality is that wordpress has no plans to configure their technology to support a variety of outdated browsers;
(3) Browsers that do work well with worpress are available free of charge on the inter-net;
(4) No one posting to this thread was doing in a manner of promoting one browser over another, the way a salesman with a vested interest would do. judyb12 simply shared knowledge with the Original Poster and IMO she got inappropriately “bashed” for doing so.
