Employee was Fired and need website recovered
-
Hi.
We had an employee who no longer works for the company. We had him helping us set up the website. I went to try and recover and we tried to see the website but it gives a 404 error. Is there a way to recover and continue using the website that was created or do we have to start a new website?
Thank you.

Hi there!
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance:

Thank you!

Your site was not hosted with WordPress.com. It was a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
The site was also not using our backup product https://jetpack.com/upgrade/backup/ so we’re unable to directly assist with this.
Your best option is to ask your former hosting provider if they still have a backup of your account with them.
