empty bullet points on custom menu widget

Hi, I added a custom menu to do a categories list on the upper right hand of my blog. It worked. Then i deleted some old posts and then I altered the names of some of the tags. Now my widget has empty bullet points.
i have cleared the cache and cookies.
deleted widget and made a new.
checked that these missing categories have posts assigned them.
for example,
‘Telling People’ is a category I assigned to the second down post. It wont show in the widget.
I will paste my url, but I must ask for you to not look unless you are ok seeing the naked body. My blog is about breast cancer.

When you assign a Category or Tag it becomes a link ie. a URL.
If you change that Tag or Category then you break all the links ie. all the previous URLs. -
What you need to do now is go to > Appearance > Menus and edit to remove the old category URLs and replace them with the new ones.

Hi there, thanks for the speedy advice! I’m sorry I haven’t fully understood yet. When i went to the Appearance/Menus it all looked fine, no out of date categories as such but what i don’t understand is your links, there are no links showing anywhere..no urls…where do see them sorry?

The custom menu widget is showing empty bullet points – and not showing categories that do exist and are in use…. (sorry if that info is not relevant)

oh my lord, without understanding it i’ve fixed it using your help. i saw that i had not updated the ‘categories’ menu…I didn’t understand how the widget was working. So you pointed me to that thankyou xxx problem solved!!!
