Enable action bar on paid plan
-
The documentation says the Action Bar can only be enabled if all plugins are disabled. However, the Spam plugin and Jetpack are mandatory for our setup. In that case, how can we benefit from the Action Bar feature?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @jamaicahomes,
Yes, you’re right. The Action Bar is not shown on sites that have plugins enabled.
Jetpack cannot be disabled on a WordPress.com site, as doing so break important functionality. Even if it were disabled, the site would still remain plugin-enabled. This is because plugin-enabled status is tied to your plan and features, not whether individual plugins are active. Once plugin support is enabled, it cannot be undone.
The Action Bar typically appears as a “Subscribe” button at the bottom right of WordPress.com sites, making it easy for visitors to subscribe. Since the main purpose of the Action Bar is to provide a subscription option, I checked your site and can confirm that a Subscribe button is already available and serving the same purpose. There’s no need to enable the Action Bar, as the existing Subscribe button already covers that functionality.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your prompt repsonse. I manage three sites, and I felt the Action Bar would have been a great feature for at least one of them — particularly because it includes the reblog button, which works as a helpful prompt for engagement.
I recently read a blog post from someone I follow who mentioned that they upgraded and are running WordAds, yet the Action Bar is still showing on their site. I was curious how that’s possible. Did they purchase additional space or enable a specific option? I don’t see anything like that available in my settings.

Hi @jamaicahomes,
The Action Bar is unavailable on any site with plugins enabled — this applies regardless of plan or WordAds status. The person you follow likely has a site without plugin support enabled, which is why it still shows for them.
Unfortunately, there’s no workaround to enable the Action Bar once plugin support is active on a site. For reblogs, your readers can still reblog your posts via the WordPress.com Reader as an alternative.
Hope that helps clarify things!
