Enable Browser Notification… Help!
-
Hi –
I am checking to see if the setting becomes available in other browsers using private tabs, since you have been using a private tab in FireFox.
-
Hello, I’m not using a private tab… Just regular. So I am not sure what you are referring to.
-
Hi @larrykutcher – I think staff-zinnia was directing her comment at @justjennifer because the errors jj posted that say “Storage access is restricted in this context due to user settings or private browsing mode”
FWIW, I’m using FF 62.0.2 on Mac Sierra 10.12.6 and can see the notification box:

-
My problem is not the notification box being visible. It’s the enable/disable browser notification button that is missing.
-
Hello again, In my reply at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/enable-browser-notification-help/#post-3188141 I specifically said
I am in a regular browser window
and not a private browsing window when looking at the notification page in Firefox Quantum on a Win10Pro PC.
However, the fact that I can see the notification box in FF 62.0.2 on my Android tablet may point to a user setting. Thanks.
@larrykutcher given that Staff are away at their annual meetup this week means that they will be in the forums on a somewhat limited basis so their attention here will likely be focused on more critical issues. Thanks for your understanding and patience. -
Sorry y’all – was trying to help but it looks like I just added to the confusion. I’ll butt out now. :)
-
I know and understand that this is meetup week, etc…
I was only responding to @slodaniel and staff-zinnia and not trying to draw new attention to my problem or being impatient. -
Howdy –
Ok. I am here, and I’ve been trying to figure this out. There’s an internal report so we are aware and working on it.

Hello,
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate your help and time in trying to figure this problem out.

I don’t know if this would be of any help, but I just wanted to show here that the browser notification enable/disable enable button is visible when I use the older Firefox 51 version.

It does work from Firefox 51, although I no longer use it as it is no longer being supported by many major sites like Facebook, Twitter, among many others. I had it on a backup disc and was curious to see if it worked. Somehow, the new Firefox Quantum 62, does not show the button, as you know :)

I figured it out and I resolved the problem. After extensive troubleshooting in my Firefox profile folder, I found an old document in there that was the culprit. I refreshed Firefox and rebuilt the profile folder as a result. Enable/disable button is now visible and works. Thank you to everyone here who took the time to try and help. Much appreciated!
