enable comments on published posts.

    i’ve been trying to enable comments on all my published posts, to no avail… have tried using bulk edit and individual post- by-post ‘allow comments’ setting too. anyone knows where i did wrong… thanks.

    Hi –

    From the post editor click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.

    A menu will pop open, look for “more options” and click on that. It will be the last menu item. Scroll down until you see the check boxes for allowing comments.

    On what site is this, please? The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com.

    If you’re using the open source software at another host, it might be a plugin that’s interfering with things. In that case, please ask for help at https://wordpress.org/support/, as we cannot help with that version of WordPress in this forum.

    I too, have been trying to enable comments on all my published posts, to no avail…
    I finally gave up and checked off all the appropriate boxes for the new posts, …. nope still no ability to enable comments.

    I took the advice about to go into “the post editor click on the gear icon in the upper right corner” ….. I see no gear icon in the upper right corner. I believe I am in the right site, as this support link came from it.
    Bluehost on wordpress.com ……….

    I have gone in multiple times to SETTINGS > DISCUSSION and ensured all correct boxes are checked. Still nothing.
    I have to say I am very disappointed with how difficult it is to accomplish what should be such a simple task.

    If you are hosted with Bluehost, then you are on the self-hosted version of WordPress. As @kokkieh mentioned above, it can be a plug-in issue/conflict. You can find support for the self-hosted version of WordPress (.ORG) at https://wordpress.org/support/ or contact your web hosting provider, Bluehost.

    Quick tip you can try: Try turning ALL your plugins off, refresh your page, then see if you can see the comments option then. If that does not work, then contact the above recommended .org forum or hosting.

    Thanks @deenam. It can also be a theme setting, so folks can check with their theme support if they’re still struggling.


    @bagionk     we didn’t see a site on this account. If you’ll send a link we can confirm whether it’s hosted here on our servers. If it is hosted on our servers we can take a look and likely find a fix. If it’s hosted elsewhere like the other poster’s is, the advice @deenam shared will be best for you.
