‘enable cookies’

  • Unknown's avatar

Every 30 seconds or so, WordPress kicks me out and makes me log in again, saying ‘session expired.’ When I log in, I get a pop up that says ‘you must enable cookies.’ I’ve already enabled cookies. I had to re-login 50 times today. It’s making me insane.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hello there,

    That does sound most irritating.

The site is hosted with Siteground, and what you’re experiencing there sounds like the work of a plugin.

Do you have anything security related installed? Also, is there any anything that powers account creation/registration?

    Many thanks.

I’m a novice/noob. I don’t know anything about plugins. However, for the last 3 years I’d created and maintained my website on a different laptop. It crashed a week ago, and I’ve been doing my website on a new laptop. I got the ‘enable cookies’ a couple of times over the past week but today it was ridiculous. I don’t know anything about account creation/registration.

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for that additional information.

Have you tried manually logging out of the site, unprompted and then logging back in?

If not, please give this a try, followed by clearing the browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

It probably is, but it’s worth asking to help rule things out – is WordPress, themes and plugins are all up to date?

To note, it looks like: patpongnightlife.com is a self-hosted WordPress site, so our support is limited.
