Enable Google Adsens if we pay for it?
-
Hi guys!
just wonder if you know anything about adding google adsense on wordpress.com blogs if we pay extra for it? like the “buy extra space, domain etc”
there was a discussion about this a few month ago and i just wanted to know is there is any news about it :)

I would not hold my breath if I were you.
The only way is with the VIP upgrade which cost several hundred to set up and about $250 per month, and not everyone qualifies for it.

How Can I enable Google Aadsense on my Blog, my blog http://arifatoillah.wordpress.com, please let me know?
-
Ads and adsense are not allowed. Don’t hold your breath for a paid upgrade, and even if it does show up, I suspect it will be over $100 per year.
-
I agree.
I have recently asked staff who’d be in a position to know and they said there’s nothing in the works right now to allow any intermediary between VIP hosting and the regular WP.com hosting that would allow ads.
-
Well, if THAT is not in the works, what about a paid wordpress.com option that does not display the AdSense that WordPress runs on my blogs when I’m not looking? I’d be more than happy to pay for that.
-
Okay, I had a pub night and might be confused, but I’m not sure what you’re asking here. Are you asking for WP.com not to display the adsense you already don’t see? I mean, I’ve been blogging here two and a half years and have only seen adsense twice on my blog. I don’t think there’d be money in that business model as I understand it.
Think of it this way: your average WP.com blog would generate perhaps 5-10 dollars in revenue a month. Multiply that by 2 million… you begin to see the business model…
And we begin to increase the likelihood of staff stepping into this thread and clarifying, which is in my opinion a good thing.

How to see the ads is outlined in a post on my blog. But essentially the method is to clear your cookies, better clear everything (in IE: Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > Delete > Delete All), then do a Google search for keywords on your blog, and then go a search result pointing to a particular post. You will only see the ads on a first time visit to a wordpress.com blog POST if you come from a search, and only if you have never ever been to a wordpress.com blog before. The next time you visit that blog, or the next time your search and end up on the same blog post or any other wordpress.com blog post, you will NOT see the ads, the cookie takes care of that. I can make this happen again and again on my blog and any wordpress.com blog with this method, although it does work best in Internet Explorer. Firefox seems to have a built in ad blocker, and I haven’t been able to replicate it there. That said, and given the constraints for making this happen, I’m not too worried. Yes, it is annoying, but I doubt that too many visitors come to a post on my blog from a Google search without ever having visited a wordpress.com blog before. BUt still, it’s there, and I would be willing to pay to make it not happen.

Just following up what TSP said above. If WordPress at one does allow AdSense, then it should be at a considerable cost. I am very happy that wordpress.com is ad-free (or should I say supposedly ad-free) and I want it to stay that way. There are enough splogs and money-making blogs out there already and I think that allowing AdSense on wordpress.com in the end will ruin much of the WordPress community. That’s why, if they do want to allow AdSense, it should be at a cost high enough to deter the sploggers, and $100 per year is not enough, maybe $500?

@wpvstp, Firefox does have a WordPress.com ad blocker, and his name is Matt: if you use Firefox, you’ll never see an ad, no matter what, mostly because I like Firefox”.
