Enable Images in Emails to Subscribers of Private Blogs
-
If we create a blog and mark it PRIVATE (to control who accesses it)
then Invite our readers to subscribe, they must create a WordPress account for security reasons.Once they complete that step, and then they choose to Follow my Private Blog, they get emails instantly when I publish a new Post. They can also receive notifications and emails with the comments.
They receive each of my posts via email at their email address.
The problem: The post does NOT contain the images that I embedded using images from my private blog media library. Instead, they see this message:
* Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.
Please enable the images to appear in the post, just as they would if the post came from a Hidden or a Public blog. A blog has to be easy for the reader to use, and they expect to see my images embedded in the email that they receive.
Thank you.

Thanks! When working with Support, the rep said it was the first time that she had heard of the request. However, I researched the forums and multiple people have the same concern- we all want our images to be transmitted and arrive in the subscriber’s email while the blog remains private.
My goal is to keep this request active and hopefully get the restriction removed.

Perhaps the issue is at the other end. Whether or not images are displayed in my email client is up to me and the settings I chose to enable. I have my email set not to display any images to cut out the possibility of spam and or malware and viruses.

Good thought, but no, this is truly a WordPress issue. The first line in the post sent to the subscribers is added by WordPress and says:
* Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.
To me (and others in the forum), marking a blog private should not stop images from reaching the subscriber. I test on my alternate email addresses which behave perfectly if I make the blog “Hidden”, and not “private”. And less than 5 minutes after my first post as “private”, a user contacted me and said he was not going to log into WordPress just to see my images. I don’t blame him at all…
So, WordPress sends the images if the blog is public or hidden, and chooses not to send the image if private. I would like the images to be transmitted even if private (or give the bloggers an option).
