Enable “post a comment” field at bottom of my post
-
I have searched for an answer in the FAQs and Forums without success. Perhaps I am missing a core basic premise?
Right now, my blog looks like this:
http://analystinfromthecold.wordpress.com/
In order for a visitor to post a comment, he/she must click a link (“# Comment”) which goes to another page and provides the field for a comment.I would like the comment field to be at the end of the page containing my post, like I see on this blog:
http://jokesfunny.wordpress.com/2008/11/02/funny-jokes-the-haircut/Does my post need to be a sub-page rather than a post?
Minor secondary question….how does one control the wording that invites the comment? In my blog, the invitation is worded as “Leave a Reply” whereas in the example given above, the invitation to comment is worded as “Post a Comment.”
Thanks in advance.

First, you have compared apples to oranges. In the link you have to your blog, that is the main page of the blog. In the link you gave to the other blog, that is the post page. If you look at a post page from your blog – like this one http://analystinfromthecold.wordpress.com/2008/10/22/negotiating-the-fees-and-the-%E2%80%98please%E2%80%99/ – you will see that the comment field IS at the end of the post page.
That is the way blogs work. The home page contains the all of the posts like this http://jokesfunny.wordpress.com/ while the post page contains the comment box.
As for the wording – that is coded into the theme and cannot be changed.

Aha — that helps. Thank you.
Follow-on question….how do I make the post page become the first page someone sees if they go to my blog? I have found the area under Settings–Reading that allows me to choose “Front page displays” but that doesn’t seem to do what I want.

If you want only your latest post to show:
Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading -> Blog pages show at most
Select 1 post
I’m not sure if that’s what you want, though?
