Enable users to control whether a post has comments allowed?

    Is there a way to allow users to control whether comments are allowed on a post? I understand how to do this as an admin, but I’d like users to have an interface to allow or disallow comments when they post something.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hello Zinnia. Thank you, but this does not answer my question. I’m looking for functionality that allows a user to decide whether someone can comment on their post.

    For example, the site would allow a user to post a link to an article, and I would like the user to have the option to enable or disable comments on anything they post.

    Is there a plugin that does this?

    I am working on this in a testing environment and then will decide on a domain name etc.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for providing a bit more info. I did have one more question however, do you mean to say you plan to offer a way for visitors to create a post from the “front end” of your site? And that you would like them to have the option to offer comments?

    Or do you mean you plan to invite authors to the site (who will have limited access to the admin areas of the site to write posts) and you would like them to know where the setting is to turn on/off the comment form on a post-by-post basis?
