enabling "continue reading" feature

  I’m new to wordpress, trying to set up my page how I want it, and I have everything perfect except for one thing. I’m using bakersfield theme, and when i post something the entire text of the post is displayed on the home screen. I want part of it displayed on the home screen, but only up to a certain amount of characters, and then I would for a “continue reading” link available at the bottom of the post so that the reader can click on it and view my full post. Can anyone tell me how to do that please?

  Hi there. You need to insert that link yourself using the read more tag. Make sure you insert the tag on it’s own line and that you don’t have any formatting like bold or underline active when you do that.
