enabling formatting in comments

  Someone making a comment are not given any options for formatting. When text with bold and italics is copy and pasted into this window, these features are stripped out leaving plain unformatted text.

  How can we make our site more friendly to commenters?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  They will have to either use HTML coding for formatting, or they will have to go without. This is primarily a security measure.

  I cannot see how commenters can use HTML.All markup gets stripped

  Other blog sites, including the one I am using now, allow some markup.

  I appreciate the need for security but how can italicising be a threat?

  And please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here. Or (better for you) make your username link to your blog (Users > Personal Settings: scroll down to Account Details, paste blog URL in the Website field, click Save Changes).

  Thanks for the link.

  I thought I had tried some of these earlier and had found they didn’t work but I have tried again and they do!

  The buttons above the box I am using now provide an easy way to insert allowed markup. Is it possible to have them for comments in our blog?

  I have now put URL in my account details.
