Enabling paid subscriptions on WordPress.com as opposed to .org

I’m leaning toward opening a ‘business’ plan account on WordPress.com as opposed to heading out into the wilds of WordPress.org but the one thing I’m not seeing is a way to enable a paid monthly subscription model on a .com site. I know I can’t bring in outside plug-ins to do that, so am I missing something in my searching around the instructions here or is this something that is ruled out on .com sites? Thanks.

Hi there,
Subscription based sites are not possible on WordPress.com at this time, so if you need something like that you’ll be better served with a self-hosted site where you can use WooCommerce or a similar plugin to give your site that functionality.
