Encrypted Search Terms

  I’ve been seeing “encrypted_search_terms” under top searches on my stats page.

  What does that mean? Why would someone be using encrypted search and do I need to be concerned about security?

  No concern, no worry

  Some search engines don’t pass the search terms used to find your site to your site. No big conspiracy theory – you just don’t see all the terms used to find your site

  Search terms will show as encrypted when someone is searching via Google using https:// instead of http:// . See this article which tells about it. This is what is responsible for the “encrypted search terms” you are seeing. I’ve been using it since it was launched.
