End Command for Youtube Video Clip Not Working

  • Unknown's avatar

    The instructions for indicating the start and end of a video clip on Youtube are as follows:

    To specify a start and end time for a video, do the same as the above but add the end time as shown: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A&start=75&end=85]

    I appear to have a perfectly fine code for the clip that I want to insert. But while it starts on time, it does not end. What am I doing wrong? Here is my code (bonus points if anyone can tell me why the & converts to amp; in WordPress coding):

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wVhvzsD-Wg&start=1209&end=1281]

    Have you consulted the relevant support docs for WordPress.COM blogs? https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

    Yes. Really strange stuff is going on. I had the link up and could play it from the proper start time–but without it ending at the time I selected. Now it is on my blog, but refuses to play. I see that collage of other videos that you see when you finish watching a YouTube video, but the replay arrow won’t restart it and clicking on it sends me to a black screen displaying the pause sign, but with no way to get it out of pause mode.

    So bizarre! Tried to use the embed media function with <embed>video info</embed> which accidentally inserted a video that I did not want earlier, but it the system keeps dropping the first <embed> and at one point rendered the embed’s in square brackets. Now went back to [youtuvbe] and it still appears to have stopped my video a little over 20 min in (was supposed to run from 15:09 to about 16:11), features the recommended video concluding collage, but will not let me replay or get to the proper start. One time, it even went on to play a video (perhaps one of the recommends) that I know nothing about. WHY IS IT SO IMPOSSIBLE TO CREATE AND INSERT CLIPS FROM YOUTUBE ON WORDPRESS?

    Is this the post you are working on?

    “Bad Religion” and Religion Scholars Gone A.W.O.L. (Part 2)

    I pasted the video link you shared in your first request and it did start and stop in the middle of the video. I also watched the clip of the video in your post linked above and it starts and stops about where you suggest it should.

    Are you still having trouble with this?

    lizthefair:

    Many thanks for this confirmation! When I last checked it on Saturday, it did seem to go on beyond the designated point. (Wonder if this in any way has to do with my viewing it on my computer?) I’ve been away from my computer over the last couple of days and, quite frankly, forgot to check it again. But good to know that it finally worked!

    Best,

    Christy
