English vs American spelling

My blog is about metallurgy in Elizabethan England. Quotes have words spelled differently to what is acceptable to Grammarly. These will not be italicized or made bold. eg sulphur. I would certainly consider upgrading. However, if I cannot write in the language I chose, why would I?

Hi –
You should be able to add stylization to any word. Can you send a link to an example of a post or page where you’ve not been able to do that?

Thanks for your response. Here is the post:
You will see that in #2 ‘Sulphide’ is not included as bold with the rest of the heading. It would not allow this because it considered ‘sulphide’ a spelling error.
Can WordPress please have two forms of English – American, and English/Canadian? There are so many variations.

You can change your language settings to UK English by going to
your settings page clicking the dropdown under language, selecting Western Europe, and then English (UK) : -
Thanks for your prompt response.
I have made all those changes: on the settings page, I have changed and saved: changed the site timezone to London, and modified the interface language to English (UK) and saved that as well. On my post, it still shows sulphur and favour as spelling errors. -
I didn’t think WordPress.com currently has a spellcheck feature. Wasn’t it removed last year? Are you sure it isn’t coming from a browser extension like grammarly?
-
You are correct! I did not think I had grammarly but found it in my computer settings and uninstalled. Problem solved. Thank you!

Ah sorry, these are being highlighted by Grammarly? If so, the change will need to be made in Grammarly.
We don’t have any direct control over how Grammarly operates.
