Enhanced contact form in widget area

  Has anyone used the new features for the contact form and designed a contact form in a widget area?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I just tried and added the M/F Radio button on a text site.

  However – I had to build the form in a text editor (or you could build it on a Post) then I pasted the plain text into a Text Widget and it worked – format sucked (narrow sidebar) but it is in the sidebar and works,

  In Coraline the form fields are cut off on one side, but in twenty ten they are not. The issue is with the labels for the fields which are pushed up against the bottom of the preceding field with a gap to the field they actually represent which makes for confusion.

  The test site has

  Theme: Ocean Mist

  I was just seeing if it worked – on my regular site I built the form on a Page and then link to the hidden page – that way I can have a one line “contact webmaster” 3 or 4 places in my site – I was just seeing if the contact form would work in the sidebar as maididbike had ask.

  Yes as you say it does work, I was just mentioning that with the misalignment of the labels it might lead to some confusion since the labels being so close to the preceding field make them look like they belong to the wrong field.

  Staff needs to look into that and fix it me thinks.

  Oh, you know what. I just viewed it in Firefox and the labels are right where they should be. In Safari 5.0.3 they are messed up. A Safari issue then. Well, except for the checkbox entries where the text is still below the checkboxes. I can live with that though.

  Thanks so far. I’m not keen to try it on MistyLook template cause I think the widget space width might be thinner than Twenty Ten. So probably they have to tweak wordpress.org plug-in version after fixing this/tweaking wordpress.com version.

  What would be slick is if the contact form shortcode just produced a button and when clicked it popped up a small window where the contact form was full-sized. Perhaps they will do something like that down the line.
