Enhancement Suggestion: allow deleting comments before approval
-
User posts a comment then wants to delete it before it gets approved, but there is no way to!
E.g., when user posts a comment to http://languageboat.com/2015/09/18/omg-i-never-thought-this-would-happen-in-taiwan-china-yes-but-never-in-taiwan/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That isn’t a feature here on WordPress.com, as we have opted to give site owners full control over the comments on their sites here. But the user can contact the site owner to change it — usually by just adding another comment right away. Then the site owner will see both at once. I hope that helps!

The second comment asking the owner to delete the first comment might get approved too, leading to even more embarrassment.
Users might have accidentally posted some personal data that they must delete.
Not giving commenters the option to delete things the posted could end up with court orders to WordPress wherein all that could be avoided via a simple delete button like Facebook has, as you already have verified that is the author of the comment.

as you already have verified that is the author of the comment.
Unless you require a visitor to login (I don’t) you can’t verify ownership of a comment once a person has left your site – don’t know if the WordPress.COM cookies (and the WordPress.ORG also) have that tracking ability
There have been several suggestion to allow editing comments for a few minutes after submit has been clicked on (both on a blog or the forum here)
