Enlarge on Click no longer displaying full size image
-
Just very recently I noticed that Enlarge on Click in my photo gallery is no longer displaying the Full Size images (as it’s instructed to). It always use to. When I asked WordPress AI about this, it said that Personal Plans would only allow web-optimized images to be displayed on Enlarge to Click (and actually encouraged me to upgrade my plan). Is this a new WordPress policy? I had a nice gallery, and little did I know that viewers were only seeing very low-rez images when clicking. Kind of a big deal.

Hi @gpstamper,
Thanks so much for explaining what you’re seeing with the Enlarge on Click feature.
On the Personal plan, images are still served in a web-optimized format, and in some cases this can mean that “Enlarge on Click” doesn’t always pull the original full-resolution file if the system generates a more optimized version. That said, it should not suddenly degrade the experience if it was working fine earlier.
To help narrow this down, can you please confirm:- When did you first notice the lower-resolution enlargements?
- Does this happen for all new uploads, or also for older gallery images?
- Have any gallery settings or WordPress Admin image sizes been changed recently?
Thanks,
