Enlarged Images Suddenly

  • Unknown's avatar

For the past three weeks, some (not all) of the images in my blog have enlarged. And no matter what I try to do (ie. trying to resize the pictures), the images still stay enlarged. Please give me some direction. I do not know what to do. I remember this happening a while back, but it seemed to be a wide spread problem across many blogs that you guys fixed on your end. This time I feel alone.

P.S. I’m using the Benevolence theme

  • You should be all fixed up now.

    Sorry for the trouble!

Macmanx…. I spoke too soon. Looks like you fixed the issue with the images in the blog post column…. but I’m still having enlarged images in the left sidebar… for example the iTunes logo is enlarged.

  • You have “size-full” added into the class of most of the images in your sidebar.

You’ll need to remove this on the images that don’t appear quite right.

Macmanx – I tried what you suggested and it did not alter it. What I’ve done in the past is I get the image like I like it in the text editor and then cut and paste the html over into a text widget. It has worked great this way for 2 plus years. What’s weird is that I can take the html out of the text widget for the itunes logo (for example) and paste it into the html of a blog post…. and then when I view it in the text editor it is sized just the way I like it. But that does not seem to be the case anymore when it’s in the text widget for the side bar.

    Help!!

  • From what I can tell, every image in your sidebar with the “size-full” attribute removed is displaying at the intended size.

Do you get anything better if you work with them through the editor again?

You can also pair the image HTML down to the very basics. For example:

    <img src="http://spinalcolumnradio.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/spinebites-itunes-graphic.jpg" />

Take a look at the email icons. There are two of them now. One has the “size-full” still in it and one has it removed…. yet they remain at a full size.

  • Can you try constructing the images again through your post editor as you have done before?

macmanx I tried reconstructing the images… and that seemed to help somewhat. What I noticed was that I could get the width I wanted by putting “?w=xx” after the .jpg of an image. Not sure what this means, but it seemed to recognize it. I was unable to figure out how to control height in this way.

    ie. src=”http://spinalcolumnradio.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/spinalcolumnblog-button.jpg?w=152″ alt=”” width=”152″ height=”130″ />

In other words, if the “?w=152” was not added in after the .jpg, then the image would pop to full size regardless of what the width and height settings were.

So…. bottom line is that I almost have it back to how it was… but I am forced to use a work around that I no very little about. Would appreciate if you could explain what I did or perhaps point me to a resource in which I could learn more.

  • That does look like a problem. We’ll look into it, but for now I recommend just keep doing what you’re doing.

If we fix that, it shouldn’t effect what you already have.

Thank you for pursuing this. I appreciate your help.

macmanx – is it possible for you to help me with another blog I have that is having the same problem? http://spinalcolumn.wordpress.com

  • I don’t see any issues with the images in the sidebar on that site. They all appear to be loading properly for me right now. Could you let me know some more details?

Hi Andrew…. on the site just mentioned… I saw the problem cropping up in one of the posts (not the side bar). It was actually in this post: http://spinalcolumnblog.com/2009/12/18/from-broadcasting-to-podcasting-—-chiropractic-delivers-its-message/

…. But, I just checked it out to grab the link for you… and it looks fine. Certainly was not the case last night.

    Sorry for the trouble.
