Entering a music sheet to the blog.

    Hi,
    I recently started up a blog and I have a question on copy write.
    I have been playing the Ukulele for some time now with two
    Local Ukulele groups and I also teach an introduction to Ukulele
    Playing to local members of u3a.
    I would like to add a Ukulele song to my blog perhaps one per week.
    Would there be a problem with this idea or would I have to add
    Some reference to the writers of the song?
    For example I have here a music sheet with words and Ukulele chords
    Written by the Clancy brothers. Could I add this to my blog with
    Reference to the writers?

    In a word – no. You require the permission of the copyright holders.

    Thanks for the reply, so how is it that there is all this ‘free music sheets’ all over the net available for download and many groups/musicians using it to perform in Pubs etc? Many ukulele groups including ours.
    Having asked our Ukulele group leader she replied ‘Copyright only applies to performance, recording or publishing of a work’. This answers the question of ‘cannot be published on your site’ . But doesn’t answer how anyone can download the music and use it in their performance, which is done by thousands of groups?
