entering private blog by invitation

    I have been invited to join a blog. I have located it but cannot figure out how to contribute.

    If you’ve been assigned a role (invited to write posts, etc) by the administrator, then when you’re logged in to WordPress while looking at the blog you should see a blue bar at the top of the blog. Clicking My Dashboard should take you to the dashboard where you can write posts. Otherwise try adding /wp-admin/ to the end of the blog address and that should do the same thing. Does that help?

    I actually sent this invite, and it’s been resolved. The initial problem was this:

    Stephen was sent an invitation to join my private blog, and tagged as a contributor.

    From my blog’s perspective, he’d registered, so his name was showing up as having done so in the “User/Invites” section of My Dashboard. What appeared in the URL column was “http://” – that’s it, nothing else, and clicking on it took me nowhere at all.

    At the same time, his name was not showing up in the “User/Authors & Users” section of My Dashboard.

    At that point, I figured I should start over, delete the old invititation, and send a new one. But I couldn’t, since the “delete” option had disappeared from the invite section, and his name wasn’t showing on the Authors & Users section.

    I went back and read the instructions for adding users. Since Stephen appeared to have registered for wordpress, I was able to look him up within the wordpress community, and add him as a contributor/author using that method. Problem solved.

    Question: what was missed to have caused what appeared to be a limited response to the initial invitation? I’ve had the same sort of problem with a couple of my invites.

    I am not sure if the “invite” system is working the way it was now as when it was setup. Best bet would be to ask staff through a support request or hopefully a member currently using it now will chime in with a response. I would love to, but don’t use the invite system myself, but know there are many who do!
