Entries RSS , Comments RSS
-
I have been investigating the various widget snd have attempted to understand what value they provide to my site. The matter of Entries and Comments RSS widget that I place on the cover of my blog is a mystery to me. Please explain to me the extra value added by having them remain on my web page? I do not know how to read code, as when I click on either one of these RSS options.
Thanks again for your help.

Those aren’t widgets. They are there for people to sign up for your feeds. The reason you get a page with some code on it when you click on them is you don’t have a feed reader set up in your browser.
The RSS widget that you can add to your side bar is for you to show other bloggers’ RSS feeds on your site.

I use Google Reader as a nice online tool to use. Others prefer bloglines and there are many offline readers you can download too, none of which I can remember the name of at the moment!

Dr.Mike,
Not sure who you are asking the question to…judy or me? I use firefox, however their feed reader is not working in WP.com for me. Any suggestions, Dr. Mike which feedreader would be the best for me and the least likely that I will insert the wrong codex? I am a little bit finicky when it comes to copying and pasting such information. Do not want to have my blog fall into a deep dark hole. Thanks for you help and insight on this matter.

Craig,
DrMike was asking you; i’m not having a problem ;-)
Anyway, here’s a link to Firefox’s support page regarding feeds. Take a look at it, because even if you end up not using FF for your feed reader, it will give you some basic info about feeds in general.
