    Hello,

I deleted my domain a few minutes ago but I made a mistake. I’m trying to host my website to BlueHost.com but I need the EPP code, is there a way for me to recover my domain?

  • Hello –

Please share the domain that you are trying to transfer. The one that was deleted.

    its: irisgazeproductions.com

  • @irisproductions4 thanks, this was indeed cancelled. We’ll contact the registrar to see if we can get it back for you.

  • You bet. This can take a few business days, but we will write back as soon as we have more information. Cheers!

@irisproductions4 we heard back from our registrar, and we were able to get irisgazeproductions.com back for you.
We’ve restored that to your account, and I’m seeing your site at irisgazeproductions.com again.

Just one last thing, It appears my privacy protection cannot be disabled to transfer my domain, can this be fixed? It was originally rejected because
I opted-in to a transfer lock for 60 days when I agreed to the WordPress.com Change of Registrant policy, which I don’t remember doing.

    Thanks a lot

  • Hi there,

Your domain is showing as unlocked and private registration disabled to me. When you go to the Transfer Domain screen, do you see the button saying Accept Settings and Continue, or do you see the one saying Cancel Transfer? You should also see an option to resend the transfer code if you need to.

If you’re seeing a message that the domain is locked, go to the Edit Contact Info screen and try re-saving your contact info. That should trigger new confirmation emails, one of which should contain the option to opt out of the transfer lock.

Ok I am seeing that privacy is unlocked now. I see cancel transfer and resend transfer code on the Transfer Domain screen but I don’t see accept settings and continue. Where is the edit contact info? I tried doing it on wordpress.com under account setting when I clicked the default avatar on the top right of the screen but I didn’t get an option to opt out, just confirm email change. Thanks.

Actually I see the legal agreement, I have no choice but to agree right?

  • I see cancel transfer and resend transfer code on the Transfer Domain screen but I don’t see accept settings and continue.

If you see that it means your domain is ready for transfer and you should be able to transfer it if you give the code to the new registrar.

Where is the edit contact info?

On My Site ->Domains, in the same list where you selected the Transfer option, there’s a Contacts and Privacy option. Click on that to edit the domain contact info, though based on what you’re seeing on the transfer screen you shouldn’t need to do anything there.

The email in account settings only affect the email address you use to log into WordPress.com, not the email appearing in your domain contacts.

Yeah I’m still getting the transfer failed, It’s the 60 day opt in that I can’t figure out, I haven’t accepted the change yet. I’ve transfer to a new email to get that email from wordpress.

    Email:

    Dear Jonathan Chowthi,

The transfer you requested has been declined because you opted-in to a transfer lock for 60 days when you agreed to the WordPress.com Change of Registrant policy.

For security reasons, when you change the registrant’s first name, last name, or organization name, you consent to a 60 day lock on transferring the domain name. Because you have provided your consent, Section 3(6) of the ICANN Policy on Transfer of Registration between Registrars permits us to decline your transfer request.

    https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/policy-2012-03-07-en

If you feel the lock was initiated in error, you may contact (email visible only to moderators and staff) to request a review.

    Regards,
    Domain Services
    WordPress.com

  • As I mentioned above, if you change your domain contact info again you should receive a new confirmation email with the option to opt out of the transfer lock. If that doesn’t happen you’ll need to contact our registrar at the secureserver email address indicated in that email, as the domain is locked on their end, not ours, and we cannot remove the lock on your behalf.

Also just a note that once a staff member replies to your thread you don’t need to keep adding the modlook tag. Once we’ve replied to a thread it automatically goes back into the queue the moment you reply :)

Ok I’ve sent the email so I can just wait for them to reply. One last thing though, I can’t seem to opt out, all I can see is:By confirming these contact information updates, you’re agreeing to the Domain Name Registrant Agreement. If I could provide a screenshot to show you what I’m talking about that would be great. I’m not sure if things have changed recently but it only lets me read the policy, not opt out options. Thanks
