EPP/Authorization code

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello!

I initially purchased the domain name for anexperienceapart.com with WordPress.com, but I’m using WordPress.org and Bluehost now. I’d like to transfer my domain to Bluehost. Bluehost advised that I ask you for a EPP/Authorization code so I can do the transfer. Can you please provide this code to me?

    Thanks!
    Ela

    Hello @anexperienceapart,
Read this support document, it shows how to access the EPP/Authorization code: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/

    Hope this helps. 🙂

Hello! Thanks for your reply! I already cancelled this domain from my account (can’t find it anymore) as I purchased hosting with Bluehost (so I could use WordPress.org), and I thought Bluehost gave me the free domain with the hosting which somehow they didn’t. But they are willing to add the free domain to my account now but they need me to get this code. I registered with WordPress.com more than 60 days ago. So what do I do now? Thanks!

You will receive the EPP/Authorization code via Email(registered to WordPress) as mentioned in the document above.

But I can’t find my domain in my wordpress account any longer as I deleted it… so I can’t follow the instructions in the form :(

Hmmm, maybe staff can assist you further with this. I am flagging this thread for staff attention.

Please be patient, someone from the staff will be here to help you soon.

    Thanks! 🙂

    Great, thanks so much! :)

  • Hi folks, when you cancel the domain, it’s returned to the registrar. Because you are no longer its owner, you won’t have options for transferring it and what not. We do have a few days to try to get it back, though. I’ve reached out to the registrar.

@anexperienceapart did you want to keep the other domain you cancelled, too? Please let us know right away.

Awesome, thanks so much! The only domain I’d like to keep is anexperienceapart.com. Thanks!

  • @anexperienceapart thanks for confirming. I was able to get this domain back for you. It almost seems like you can’t transfer away immediately after un-canceling, but here’s how to point it to the new host:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

And here’s how to transfer it when you can. If there’s a waiting period it will let you know.

Thank you!! I’ll try it now.

  • You bet, did you figure it out? The site still points here.

Hi! Thanks so much for following up! I was able to figure it out, but then I received these 2 emails. Not sure what to do next…

    Email 1

We are contacting you to notify you that your request to transfer
the domain name anexperienceapart.com was rejected by your current registrar Wild West Domains, Inc..

In order to resolve this issue, please contact Wild West Domains, Inc..
Wild West Domains, Inc. should be able to provide the reason why the transfer was rejected, and assist you with ensuring the transfer away from their system succeeds.

    Here’s some troubleshooting:

If you don’t see the links then here are some possibilities:
    1. The domain is still locked.
    2. Privacy was still on and you never got the confirmation email.
    3. The transfer was stopped by the other company. If that is what happened, you will need to contact them to find out why.

Once the issue at Wild West Domains, Inc. has been resolved, the transfer can be re-initiated through your Domain Manager here at
    Bluehost.

    Email 2

The transfer you requested has been declined because you opted-in to a transfer lock for 60 days when you agreed to the WordPress.com Change of Registrant policy.

For security reasons, when you change the registrant’s first name, last name, or organization name, you consent to a 60 day lock on transferring the domain name. Because you have provided your consent, Section 3(6) of the ICANN Policy on Transfer of Registration between Registrars permits us to decline your transfer request.

    https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/policy-2012-03-07-en

If you feel the lock was initiated in error, you may contact (email visible only to moderators and staff) to request a review.

  • @anexperienceapart transfers can be tricky. Try pointing the domain first, if possible:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

Then try the transfer once more, checking for each of those points.
