Erase search box?
-
How do I delete the search box at the top of my pages? Seems like it should be simple. I am creating a very basic personal academic website that does not require searching. I have read 6 forum pages and watched 3 youtube videos about how to do this, but they all involve instructions such as ‘find you header php’ or ‘comment out’ or other stuff that is beyond my understanding. Please could you give some more basic instructions? Thanks so much for any time or help!

I am sorry about the frustration. It sounds like you’ve been looking at tutorials for WordPress.org, not WordPress.com. You can read about the differences and similarities between them here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Here is an example showing how to remove the search box from the navigation bar in the Twenty Eleven theme:
At WordPress.com, you need to add the CSS to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor to make it work. You’ll need the Custom Design upgrade to make CSS changes.
