  I’m trying to recover a WordPress site that I canceled originally. I was wondering if I could take erikmaynard.com and recover that website name under hostgator but still use WordPress for editing the page.

  Hostgator is a web host. WordPress.com is a web host. You have to choose one or the other.

  You can register the domain name with any domain registrar provided it’s available.
