Err too many redirects when trying to log in to admin
-
Every time I try to login to our admin page, I get a too many redirects error. I’ve tried clearing cookies, cache, and using FTP but I can’t seem to log in to our the back end of our website no matter what I try. Please help!

Hey there! I can’t tell for sure without knowing the site address, but I’ve seen this in cases where the WordPress site address does not match the primary domain on the server. You visit the current domain, it tries to redirect to the old one, and the server redirects to the new one, and it just ends up in a loop. I’ve also seen this with forced HTTPS issues.
In either case, I’d recommend asking your host for help with one of these options. Several of them do not require access to wp-admin:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/If that isn’t the issue at all, could you send a link to the site? I don’t see any on this account, but we’d be happy to point you in the right direction for help.

Also, I noticed you have a similar thread open. I’m guessing they’re related, so I’ve merged them together.
If my tips above didn’t help, do just let us know the site address by responding to this. Thanks!

Hi there!
Yes those two threads are related. I’m still having trouble logging in. I tried FTP using Filezilla but I can’t connect that way either. We updated some plug-ins yesterday and I think one of the updates is causing the issue but I can’t access the admin side to deactivate the plugins.

Thanks so much

Hi there,

In that case you can also try to disable them directly from the database via PHPMyAdmin at your hosting provider. You can find more details on those options here:
Please contact your hosting provider for help accessing the database. They should also be able to help with your FTP connection issues.
For more help troubleshooting this, you can also ask the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – they provide support for the open source version of WordPress you’re using on that site.
